“We do not enjoy being disciplined. It is painful at the time, but later, after we have learned from [been trained by] it, we have peace [it produces/bears the fruit of peace], because we start living in the right way [or …and righteousness].” – Hebrews 12:11 Expanded Bible.

“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward, there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” – Hebrews 12:11 New Living Translation.

“My child don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when He corrects you. For the Lord corrects those He loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.” – Proverbs 3:11-12 New Living Translation.

Some people can barely stand to be in the kitchen for more than an hour. Well, try cooking for a hundred hours! That’s exactly what the Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey—known as Hilda Baci on social media—did last weekend in hopes of setting a new Guinness World Record, Hilda Bassey cooked nonstop from Thursday, May 11th, through Monday, 15th churning out more than 55 recipes and 100 meals.

The record to beat – 87 hours and 45 minutes – was set in 2019 by Indian chef Lata Tondon who posted a message of support to Bassey ahead of her attempt. When the 27-year-old chef began her journey last Thursday, May 11th, she wasn’t quite sure she would make it to 10 hours—much less 100. “The first day was the most difficult. I was ready to give up 6 hours in,” she said. “I feel like a miracle happened and somehow, I got to this. The support has been incredible.”

Despite the lack of sleep throughout her cooking spree in Lagos, Nigeria, Hilda Bassey remained in high spirits and could be spotted dancing and waving at her fans turned out in droves to support her. The Guinness Book of Records has acknowledged this great milestone but is yet to announce officially the new world record.
