Marvelous Things Are God’s Doing!
Beloved, let us embrace a critical truth: no one can generate marvelous things without the help of God. Why? Because anything truly marvelous surpasses human ability—it is “the Lord’s doing,” as Psalm 118:23 declares: “This was the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes.” Marvelous works are never self-generated accomplishments; they are divine manifestations through us!
Take the example of the Apostle Paul, one of the greatest saints who ever lived. He declared in Romans 15:19 (NKJV): “In mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.” Paul attributed all the mighty signs and wonders to the power of the Spirit of God, not his own strength. Similarly, Zechariah 4:6 reminds us: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts.
Give Glory to Whom It Belongs: God Alone!
When we mistakenly claim God’s wonders as our own personal achievements, we risk losing the partnership of His divine power. Psalm 115:1 (NKJV) urges us: “Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, But to Your name give glory.” Recently, after I released my tenth book, a co-worker commented on Facebook: “You did it again.” My immediate response was, “The Lord Jesus did it again!” Writing eight books in fifteen months was certainly not by my own doing—it was the Lord’s doing, and that’s why it’s so marvelous in people’s eyes!
It’s amazing how, after publishing my first two books twenty-four and twenty-one years ago while I was in medical school, I couldn’t author a single book for twenty years. But when the time came, God enabled me with wisdom, human, and financial resources to publish eight books within 15 months! Truly, Psalm 71:7 (NKJV) resonates with me: “I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge.” Or as the World English Bible puts it: “I am a marvel to many, but You are my strong refuge.”
Wonders Without Number is not a solo endeavor—it is a Divine Partnership between God and us. There is God’s part and our part. This partnership is clearly illustrated in the story of David and Goliath.
David didn’t just wake up one day and say, “I will defeat Goliath.” His journey began with obedience to his earthly father, Jesse. First Samuel 17 tells us that David’s father sent him to deliver food to his brothers at the war front and check on their welfare. While carrying out this simple task, David encountered Goliath, and something stirred within him. Empowered by God, he killed the giant and cut off his head, becoming a national hero and a marvel to many.
David’s victory was a divine partnership—he played his part through obedience, courage, and action, while God played His part through divine empowerment. This is why David could say, “You are my strong refuge.”
Faith Requires Corresponding Action: Play Your Part!
Beloved, any faith that makes God fully responsible for the outcome of your life is an irresponsible faith! God’s wonders will not manifest until we discover our part in His covenant and commit to doing it. God’s part is guaranteed only when we fulfill our part. This principle is the key to unlocking Wonders Without Number in our lives.
