Many of us have heard about the law of attraction. There’s even a nice movie on this titled “The Secret”. Basically, this law suggests that positive thoughts attract positive results into a person’s life, while negative thoughts attract negative outcomes. We attract into our lives whatever we focus on. If we focus on the positive things, we attract more positive things while if we are constantly complaining because we focus on negative things, we will attract more things to complain about.

When we express gratitude for what we have or where we are in life, we will only attract more things to be grateful for. The truth is that, no matter where we are in life and what we have, there is always something to be grateful for. Once we recognize this, and start expressing gratitude for these things, we begin to see improvements in our lives. The direction of our thoughts – positive or negative – affect every aspect of our lives.

Many successful people such as Oprah Winfrey, Tony Robbins and Arianna Huffington, keep what they call a gratitude journal. They believe that success in life begins with acknowledging with gratitude what you currently have. Oprah said that for a full decade, she would write down daily five things she was grateful for in her gratitude journal.

Call to action: What aspect of your life are you struggling in? Carefully examine that area, and identify the things you are grateful for in that area of your life. Get a journal and practice writing down five things you are grateful for daily.
